National Women’s Health Resource Center – It is vital for women to take care of their health. Women deal with health issues that are unique. As such, we need to be as informed about our bodies as possible and strive to maintain a lifelong vow for healthy lives.  According to their Website, “The not-for-profit National Women’s Health Resource Center (NWHRC) is the leading independent health information source for women. NWHRC develops and distributes up-to-date and objective women’s health information based on the latest advances in medical research and practice.”

Working Moms Refuge – This site offers articles on issues like daycare, picking a pediatrician and handling the stress of working both outside the home and still working inside the home when the workday is done.It also has discussion forums for working mothers as well as for single mothers who work. I believe we need the support of the community to raise our children to be productive members of society and this is one way to get it. It helps to be able to talk to other women who have walked a mile in your shoes.

Women for Women International – This Website gives us the opportunity to help other women take control of their lives. Women for Women International helps women who live in war torn countries to gain their independence and create a future for themselves and their children. Feminist Majority Foundation – This organization works tirelessly to promote women’s rights around the world. I have found this site to be invaluable to me in my own personal quest for gender equality. If you care at all about the rights of women, this is a site you simply must bookmark. Here is a quote from the FMF Website, “The Feminist Majority Foundation (FMF), which was founded in 1987, is a cutting edge organization dedicated to women’s equality, reproductive health, and non-violence. In all spheres, FMF utilizes research and action to empower women economically, socially, and politically. Our organization believes that feminists – both women and men, girls and boys – are the majority, but this majority must be empowered.”

American Cancer Society, Relay for Life – Cancer is a personal enemy of mine since it took my mother’s life at the young age of 49. For the last several years I have participated the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. These events raise money for cancer research and are held in several cities throughout the country. It is a cause worth the time and effort.

Planned Parenthood – Each individual woman is the sole guardian of her body. As such, she is entitled to the right to decide when she will procreate. Planned Parenthood provides women with many options to deal with unplanned pregnancies. PP also provides birth control to women who cannot afford to buy it. I have supported PP for a long time and I believe it does so much good in our communities. When women have a choice, freedom rings loud and clear.
